Where Should I Teach?

I am currently a community college student in Northern California, pursuing my bachelors in English with a Minor in sociology and my single subject credentials. My problem is that the more I learn of California's changing public school system, I become increasingly nervous that the environment is not what I will anticipate as an educator. I am now considering teaching in private schools, Waldorf education, or teaching out of state... Can anyone offer any experiences or advice to my situation?
