Can anyone give me a LEGITIMATE reason why same marriage should be outlawed?

I asked this question myself. And the answer? There is a good answer. There isn't any answer. If we preach tolerance here in America then why don't we allow two people who love each other to marry? Only four states have legalized gay marriage- MA, CT, IA, and VT. No one should force their religious beliefs in the way of others' happiness.
