What is the power source for a modern person who rejects "the invisible sky daddy"?

....and who is out of touch with the earth. With no earth, and no heaven to draw strength from, what is left for them? I am guessing the power of darkness, but I don't want to read too much of my own umptions into things. Is this what a "twenty first century schizoid man" is all about? No connections anywhere to life giving energy?
